A faceted tree in iridescent panels, topped with a star, running eight lighting modes off any USB socket.
The Starlightz is built from angular iridescent panels that catch and split light into shifting bands of violet, green, amber and blue, so the tree has colour in it before a single LED comes on. Switch it on and dozens of fine white LEDs light up inside the structure, refracting through every facet and turning a 50cm tabletop piece into something that genuinely stops people mid-conversation. A matching iridescent star sits at the crown.
Eight modes cycle from a single button on the USB stick, running through twinkling, fading, chasing and static settings, so it can be a calm background glow one evening and the centrepiece of a party the next. Power comes over a 1 metre transparent USB cable, which means it runs from a laptop, a monitor, a power bank or any USB plug. No batteries, no socket wrangling, and the clear cable disappears against most surfaces.
At 50cm on a 32cm square base it suits a mantel, a console, a hall table, a windowsill or an office desk. Wipe with a damp cloth and dust it occasionally and it will come out year after year.
