One hundred and forty-three animals. Seven deadly sins. Seven secret compartments. One extraordinary piece.
Sin City is, quite simply, one of the most ambitious, detailed and personal pieces Peter Calvesbert ever created for Harmony Kingdom — and in a career defined by extraordinary craftsmanship and storytelling, that is saying something remarkable.
The fourth piece in the celebrated series of signed and numbered multi-compartment limited edition box figurines, Sin City features seven deadly sins housed within an overcrowded zoo of extraordinary complexity and invention. Peter himself has stated that this piece was conceived as an excuse to include as many animals in a box as he possibly could — the final count reaches 143, not including the seven interior compartments or the humans concealed within.
And then the details begin. Inside each of the seven compartments, a sin is being committed by the zookeeper — who bears a strong resemblance to the artist himself. Loose feathers across the surface are a tribute to a collared dove that had an unfortunate encounter with Peter's cat, Algy — with the "Algy EGL" poster nearby referencing Algy's broken leg two weeks later. A dog falls through the roof in memory of Murphy, who fell through the false ceiling at Martin's factory. An elephant sports three earrings. A duck-billed platypus attempts to absorb the aphrodisiac properties of a rhino horn. Peter's new Ford Ka is mentioned twice. Martin's dog Alf has his name hidden on a tortoise's back. One bear is sick after eating chips; another has kicked the beak off a flamingo. A meerkat suffers from food poisoning. Noel Wiggins looks out of a gate wearing one of his Harmony Ball ties. The cancelled Edison poster references that Sin City was not ready in time for the exposition.
Every reference is deliberate, personal and documented — making this one of the most richly narrative and deeply personal pieces in the entire Harmony Kingdom canon. At 7.68 × 8.03 × 4.57 inches this is also physically one of the largest and most substantial pieces Calvesbert produced — a commanding, complex object that demands a display position worthy of its scale and story.
Each piece is hand-numbered from a limited edition of just 5,000, personally signed by Peter Calvesbert, and accompanied by its original certificate of authenticity. Hallmarks include the Harmony Kingdom copyright mark, star, HBC logo, edition number and Calvesbert's personal Pc mark. Made in England. Released June 1998.

Merchandising tips
Merchandising tips
Style & Display
- Group pieces by theme or character universe for maximum visual impact — clusters of related pieces signal to collectors that this is a range worth exploring
- Give each piece room to breathe — these are sculptures, not knick-knacks; crowding them obscures the hand-painted detail that makes them special
- Position at eye level where possible so customers can appreciate the intricate folk art patterning up close
- Lead with the largest or most dramatic piece as the anchor, then build smaller pieces around it
- A backdrop that complements the colour palette of each piece will draw the eye and elevate the display from shop shelf to curated collection
Gifting
- These pieces appeal across all age groups — nostalgic adults, devoted collectors, parents and grandparents buying for family members alike
- Always lead with the story, not the price — communicating the craftsmanship and the specific scene or character moment justifies the price far more effectively than the number alone
- Position smaller pieces as approachable gifts for birthdays and celebrations; larger statement pieces as landmark gifts for significant occasions; detailed scene pieces as the ultimate collector's statement
- Every piece arrives in a branded gift box — no additional wrapping needed, making these an effortless premium gift at any price point
